GEAR: nolan n20 brain bucket
/Here's a beautifully modern-vintage skull saver to make you look all period correct. The N20 is made by Italian helmet manufacturer, Nolan. The design is reminiscent of fighter pilot helmets, with an aviator style, flip up shield, that is "optically correct" - (?, sounds legit.)
Not only are the inners removable and washable, but they're also anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. This is great news for those of you who, like my co-worker, have a medically diagnosed case of the sweaties.
The chin strap also has a quick release tension system built into it for quick ejection.
The N20 weighs in at 2.5lbs (XL), making it about .6lbs heavier then a Bell Custom 500. Expect your neck muscles to get a bit more of a work out while you're checking that bogie on your six.
It's DOT approved, and will run you about $170.00 through various Amazon stores.
ART&DESIGN: designers x triumph motorcycles
/This blog will be diversifying itself a bit from now on, to include more motorcycle inspired art and design work. To kick it off, here's a great article I've been meaning to post up.
Designers at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design in the UK teamed up with Triumph Motorcycles on a project to create products out of motorcycle components. Designers were given the task to single out parts and pieces from the motorcycle, and rebirth them in interesting ways to perform new tasks. Below is some real top-notch student work, and should be inspiration to all you young designers out there. Do your project models look this good? ...I know mine didn't.

GEAR: oscar line, by alpinestars
/Alpinestars is one of the few moto gear manufacturers that understands not everyone who rides a motorcycle fits into the Color&Graphics or Patches&Studs genre. They've got some really tasteful modern designs. The new Oscar line is just that.

DAILY INSPIRATION: rapid-fire slovakian gs1000
/This '79 GS1000 was built in 2 months, in an unheated Slovakian garage, during the winter, by a guy who had never ridden a motorcycle before.
Oh, and he made the seat out of his g/f's designer purse. This guy deserves a medal.
