INSPIRATION: sydney to london on a postie bike named dot.

I couldn't bring myself to title this post "daily inspiration," because in truth, following this trip has been one of the most inspiring tales I've ever followed.

I jumped on a forum called Adventure Rider a while back after attempting to plan a road trip across the US. A google search linked me up to an in-progress "ride report" of Nathan Millward's trip - Sydney to London... on a 110cc postal bike...by himself.

It took him 9 months (since postie bikes have a max speed of about 40mph). He traveled 23,000 miles and passed through 18 countries.

Just about every day he would make updates to his journey, in the form of postcard-esque photographs, ride-a-long videos, and journal entries. It was one of the most captivating stories I've ever read, and it was happening in real time. It wasn't just a log of his travels, but also of his state of mind, and where it goes when you've got endless time to think. It really struck a chord with me, and I made a pact with myself to do something just as carefree and reckless before I ever have to be tied down - be it because of work or family.

Nathan has just published a book of his journey, titled Going Postal.
It's currently available on amazon in Kindle version, here.
Paperbacks are only for sale in AU as of now, but if you want a copy just contact Nathan through his site below, and he'll personally send you one.

All of Nathan's journal entries have been posted on his personal site, as well as in the ADVRider thread.
The updates, pictures, and video were always a great read, and now I can't wait to get my hardcopy in.

Good luck with it all Nathan.
